Why Trichocereus means "hairy"
This hairy flower stalk of a Trichocereus Spachianus clearly demonstrates how this variety was named. This is why the idea of lumping Trichocereus into the Echinopsis group was a mistake by some larval pedant who would commonly be called an idiot. The world is filled with idiots. There was no advantage, let alone a valid reason, for dumping the magnificent Trichocereus into another cactus classification.
