First you have to cut and dry the cacti
Slant cuts prevent water pooling on the cut. Leave a couple of areols for offsets to grow out of.
Harvesting during hot, dry weather prevents fungal infections, rot, etc. on both the cutting and the donor plant.

Well dried in only 4 days due to warm, dry weather and an electric fan. In just one week these could be placed in dry potting soil to begin rooting.
